I was converting all my files from Dropbox to Google Drive and found out that GD doesn't support files over 200mb. What is everyone using for large number of files? Dropbox is close to $800/year.

I have no problems copying a file of 540MB to Google Drive. Why do you think 200MB is a limit?

I saw that as well which I why I'm asking. I'm getting sync errors and the error clearly states that photo file sizes over 200mb cannot be backed up. Note that this may not be the same as other file types as video can be 5Gb and other docs are 50mb.

What kind of file was causing problems? I have no issues with a 540MB TIFF file. There is a limit of 750 GB per 24 hours. If Google Drive Sync locks up, a restart of Google Drive or computer helps.

If you are Mac based I highly reccomend buying Chronosync. You can set up scripts to backup to a bunch of different locations and it's a one off purchase. Their tech support is excellent.

I use a Synology Disc Station. There's a great choice, you can get a huge amount of disc space and their support is 100%
Mine is the DS923+ with 16Tb. It's a one off purchase. No,licence. You can access from anywhere with the internet. So it's your own private cloud. I'm upgrading as I write so get my home network at 10Gbps from a basic 1Gbps which is already pretty fast.

I am a long time (very) satisfied user of Carbon Copy Cloner. It also uses creates UNIX scripts (Chronosync sounds like it does, too, right?), and I back up to local disks, remote disks, and a NAS with it. I use Backblaze, though, for cloud backup. My NAS is a TrueNAS server, as I like the ZFS file system for its Copy on Write.

The error is very specific and is on all my hasselblad files. I'll look into it more today. I'm currently using a large array here and Dropbox but if others are successful with Google Drive, I'll keep checking on the specific issue here.

Thanks. I've written Chron jobs in the past and didn't know about this package.

It appears that the issue with GD is how they handle uploads as photos or files. Photos to "Google Photos" are limited to 200MP or 200mb (seems odd).

What do we know about the way GD, or any cloud service, use our pictures, once uploaded ?

Google Photos cannot upload TIFF or 3FR files. Google Drive, of course, accepts them or any other format.

I have been using google drive for the past decade and have files over 10gb in size synced perfectly. Try uploading the single file directly to google deive from a web browser. That'll give you more insight. If it uploads, there is something wrong with the sync client.
