Just installed Firmware 1.22 with exact instructions. When I restarted it keeps shutting down. Any one else had this problem?

Sorry to hear!
Mine screwed the wheels up and went back to normal after three reboots. That's why I put the post up. I don't think it's stable.
Good luck bud!

I took the battery out, and pushed the power button while it was out.

Reinserted, and repeated taking it out again.

I was informed by them before, to do a factory reset:
1.  Turn the camera on
2.  Press the Menu button
3.  Tap the cog wheel
4.  Scroll to About
5.  Tap on the firmware version 5 times and a message will appear:  Firmware update retry now visible in the service menu
6.  Press Menu button
7.  Tap the cog wheel
8.  Scroll to Service
9.  Scroll down and tap on Firmware Update Retry
10.  The update may take between 10-20 minutes
11.  When the update is complete, you will need to remove the battery
12.  Reinsert the battery
13.  Please test the camera and let me know the results.

WARNING:  Please make sure that the battery is at a min. of 80% charge.  The process will take between 10 and 20 min.  If the camera loses power during the reset, it may require factory service.

EXTRA:  You can also access the factory reset (firmware update retry) if you receive a system error.  When the error appears, tap on the exclamation point five times and continue with step 6 from the procedure above.

Why is a factory reset required after installing this new 1.22 firmware? Has everyone had the same problem? I am going to delay installation until this issue is resolved.

No need to do this if everything is Ok.

I installed the latest firmware and all good so far  :)

No issue with 1.22

I love the reset of the AF-point.

If the scrolls wheels seem buggy, do this:

Remove the battery from the camera and remove any SD cards that are in the camera.  Remove the lens and put on the front body cap.  Reinsert the battery and follow the steps below:

1.  Turn the camera on
2.  Press the Menu button
3.  Tap the cog wheel
4.  Scroll to About
5.  Tap on the firmware version 5 times and a message will appear:  Additional functions now available in the service menu
6.  Press Menu button
7.  Tap the cog wheel
8.  Scroll to Service
9.  Scroll down and tap on Scroll Wheel Handling
10. Change the setting from Original to Adjusted.
