Since this sub-forum has "other software" in its title I figured I'd ask what other software Hasselblad owners typically use or have used and their opinions on the other software out there.

I assume most people here use or have used Phocus, Phocus Mobile, and LR/PS. I'm more curious to hear opinions on other, more niche software such as Topaz AI, Luminar Neo/Mobile, and Aperty.

If you want to keep the typical Hasselblad colours (HNCS), the only way is Phocus and, to a little less extent, Lightroom/Photoshop. Other softwares won't keep colours satisfactorily.
I don't know Aperty. Do you mean Affinity ?
Besides that, you can always open and develop your files with Phocus, convert them into TIFFs (Prophoto or Hasselblad RGB or L*), and then conclude with any other software, keeping in mind that it is generally admitted that TIFFs are less flexible than RAWs.

While I miss using Capture One for my Hasselblad (I moved from Sony to Hasselblad), I tried a few other tools like Luminar Neo. But in the end, I stay with Phocus or Adobe Bridge & Adobe Camera Raw (I don't like the user interface of Adobe Lightroom).

From withing Photoshop, I use Topaz AI for sharpening, more for my Sony then for my Hasselblad files. As I am people shooter, fashion, lingerie, boudoir etc,.. I use a few filters like Retouch4Me "Portait Volumes".

Tried Aperty but was disappointed as in real world scenearios, the masking wasn't as good as Photoshops masking.
Sure, my gear was pricey, and it doesn't make my photos any better, but I have more fun with my crappy pictures.
(Hasselblad X2D, XCD 2.8/65, XCD 3.2/90, XCD 2.8/135, XCD 3.5-4.5/35-75)

I use ART ( https://art.pixls.us/ ) a lot and like it. It can read and use the Adobe colour profile for Hasselblad (Hasselblad 100-20-Coated6 Adobe Standard.dcp) from Camera Raw if you want that, as well as their Lens profiles.
Other than that I use Phocus which is the only way to have HNCS.

Thanks for your thoughts on Aperty. I was considering giving it a try. I had not heard of Retouch4Me, looks like it has a lot of capabilities and licensing options. Have you used the Face Recovery in Topaz AI?

I take mostly landscape photos but occasionally I've taken photos of friends. I'd love to have a reliable tool for retouching. I'm not a pro and don't want to spend a lot of time in PS.

They have a free version, which I have tried a few months ago. So you shouldn't risk anything by trying it out.

I haven't tried anything else in Topaz other denoising and sharpening.

For HB files, Phocus to TIFF then LR Desktop. For Leica files, run out of camera through Dxo Pure Raw 4, then LR Desktop. For problematic files, Topaz AI. Final outputs to jpeg for sharing.

Was using Luminar Neo for several years until 6 months ago. Found that LR subscription comes free with Adobe Porfolio to setup photo site; so saved money on not needing to pay extra for iCloud Photos or smugmug to host photos for sharing.

I am interested in Adobe Portfolio. Do you know what they do with the pictures you post there ? What are their conditions and rules ?
Thanks !

Not quite. I import the Phocus-created .tif into Picture Window Pro from Digital Light & Color (a substitute for Photoshop in effect). That requires a translation of the HNCS profile to ProPhotoRGB. The color change is entirely satisfactory. Then I can print if desired, and for the Web, a further translation to sRGB is necessary as a common denominator for people everywhere.

Like this example:

Phocus created TIFF has HNCS applied.

Iridient Developer offers free demo versions available to download and use as you like. If you're using the demo version: "Unregistered Iridient Developer 4.5 will run in demo mode. The demo is fully functional and is not time or usage limited, however all exported images will be permanently watermarked. The only way to remove the demo watermark is to re-process your images after purchasing the software."

Sure !! Any file exported into TIFF from Phocus will keep HNCS colours, provided some precautions are taken about the colour spaces. But it's necessary to keep in mind that TIFF files are a liitle bit less flexible than RAW when processing is concerned.

@tenmangu81 unfortunately since the Adobe Portfolio is free, there isn't much by way of agreements. I recall on Lightroom forums that Adobe doesn't backup anything since presumably you have the originals. There are some limits to how many sites you can create but as far as I know, unlimited pictures although there are some limits to how many in a collection etc

Best check out their basic rules before you jump in...FAQ...https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/adobe-portfolio-faq.html
