Am wondering for what applications lambda or other contiuous tone prints are the best(r a very good)  option.  Thanks.,

that's a bit of a vague question.

do you mean, what kind of images are most suited to ? and what are we comparing to ?

in my experience of producing large format fine art type prints, i mostly print on an Epson 9800 but have had occasion to print on a Lightjet 500XL.
the differences are; the lightjet has a smaller gamut, thus can produce less saturation. but within than gamut has more gentle and subtle tone.
so for images with a small tonal range the lightjet can produce really beautiful prints, but if you want bright images with punch, i would go for the epson.

is that helpful ?

The other thing to bear in mind is that the very high gloss papers (eg fujiflex) are only available for the c type printers. Conversely the true matt papers only on inkjet.
