Play / review mode - activating EVF on 1dxII

Evening all.

On the 1dxII - in live view I've got the evf to activate when I bring my eye to it - great.

In play / review mode, if I start on the rear screen, is there a way to keep the play / review mode active when I go to the EVF also...currently it changes from play to live view if I auto activate EVF by bringing my eye towards it.
(I know I can press play button when eye is looking through evf of course).
I like to see the image overall on rear screen but to go close use the EVF to check focus etc as I can do so without having to dig out my glasses.
