XCD 45p infinity focus blurry

I do some street photography and landscapes so I rely on hyperfocus distance.

However I noticed that my copy of XCD45p is blurry when i rack the focus ring to infinity. And I have to pull it back a touch before infinity becomes sharp.

Do I have a faulty lens? Is this normal lens behaviour?

No that's normal, focus goes beyond infinity
The 45P lens has no absolute distance focus ring as many modern AF lenses have today.

On the X2D, you can assign a custom button to "lens focus infinity".

I if customize a button to focus to infinity, would it go to a predetermined position and effectively reach infinity with precision? can this be trusted even if the focus point is not in infinity, or if it is really dark, say for shooting long exposures at night?
