EVF only w/ rear screen for menu

Has anyone figured out a way to set the X2D to only use the EVF for composition and shooting (so rear screen off) but make the rear screen still come on when you press menu or display to review images? I don't think it's possible even with changes to the custom buttons. I thought the "start live view setting" and "display off" setting might have something to do with this but it doesn't work. I don't even know what "start live view" does
