Since hard drives are quite fragile, it would be great and usefull if it would be possible to shoot tethered and get back ups to a CF inserted in the back. This is something i missed from the beginning and now when my MBP is on service, I just pray to God it is not the HD.

On other thing usefull would be the ability to save files to two locations when shooting tethered, one to HD and one to a flash memory (usb dongle)

Sorry, but this was not the answer I was hoping for. Not at least to the tethered+CF problem.

Today I shot tethered to my MBP, powered it down and took it from the studio to my office, about 50 meters in the same space. At my office the computer start any more, so quite few posibilites to back up before that.

whilst Hasselblad's camera / software doesn't support this currently, there are ways to do it.

For example you could setup an Applescript Folder Action (an applescript which is triggered whenever a file is added to that folder).
Make a simple script which copies from the shooting folder to a backup (on a second hd or memory stick), attach this to the shooting folder then it'll auto run whenever a new image appears in the folder (this also has the advantage of saving you from accidental file deletes).

The only problem is you'll be moving around big files and that'll slow the computer, Phocus, and probably the camera shooting speed.

When I used to work as a digital tech I simply used whatever downtime I had (in between setups) to backup everything we'd shot to an external HD.

Alex

Hi!

Thanks, the apple script might be a work around at this point, thanks for the tip! I have a friend who is keen on learning apple script, so I guess he is happy to fix this ;)

But Hassy people, please get an firmware that allows you to shoot both tethered to HD and CF!!! It would be very, very, very important. I won't charge for the innovation ;)

thanks!

Hi!

So I'm now trying to do an script with Automator in osx 10.5 and this is the first time I use the software and can't figure out how to set the trigger when a file drops to scratch pad. What I want to happen is the script to automaticly copy files to a flash card from scratch pad. I got the script working "manually".

Thanks for any tips!

Once more, Hassy please. Get a firmware that allows secure shootin :)

In case that some one else would be interested; I installed snow leopard on my MBP and on it Automator runs as I hoped, so now my photos from scratch pad goes automaticly to an external usb drive. Now I can breathe again, but I really hope that shooting tethered would allow to take copies to CF.
