I am just wondering how the new XCD 2,5/38V lens compares with the the Super Wide 38 mm Biogon lens?

From memory I recall the 38mm Biogon had a 90 degree view angle whereas the 38V is only 70 degrees.

However the XCD 4/21 has an angle of view of 105 degrees which is closer to the 38mm Biogon

So I am thinking that using a 907X with a XCD 4/21 and a square crop will be a close alternative to the 38 mm Biogon.

I suppose the other alternative is to use the 907X on the Super-Wide 38 mm Biogon - Has anyone tried that?

You should check the vertical angle if you want to compare Biogon 38mm with an XCD lens using a 1:1 crop. The XCD 21mm has a vertical angle of 75 degrees, while Biogon 38mm has 72mm. When using a 1:1 crop on X cameras, XCD 21mm "mimics" the SWC well.

That's why Hasselblad named the 907X plus XCD21 as a digital SWC

Thanks for the link. As you say there seems to be varied but inconclusive opinions
