Many of us travel a lot and sometimes it would be good to add a layer of security. With the H6D, X1D and 907X touch screens it should be easily possible to add a numeric display to enter a security PIN number.

The problem with enabling security is that half the time, the person getting locked out is the proper owner. With that issue, there's going to be a somewhat quick way to reset or bypass the PIN like simply resetting the back with a button/battery combo. That reset hole will simply make it easier for unwanted people to regain access to the back without offering any real security and just hindering users who need to quickly power up.

Even if you made it so that you'd have to call Hasselblad, give your serial and a copy of the registered owner's ID (or similar proof of ownership), and receive a special unlock code, you'd have more headache than benefit. What'd happen if you forgot or got locked out at 3am on a Sat?

You'd probably also want to implement a failed attempts limit before "permanent lock". Otherwise, one could just steal it and sit around trying combos until you hit one. That creates another problem with what would happen if one of my assistants kept trying the wrong/old code and locked out the back?

PINs, passwords, and even thumbprints are only there to keep the honest people honest. You'd be surprised how many times people lock themselves out of websites and then out of the recovery system despite using the same site days before!
