Preview Speed

Hi,
Being new to the FlexColor family I have a question about the preview speed when shooting tethered.  My previews take about 10 seconds to be fully rendered.  Is this what it should be or am I in need of a faster computer?  What would the bottleneck be?  Is it processor speed, Ram, Video Card, VRam?   I've tried this on 2 different laptops: Macbook pro 2.2 core2 duo, 2 gigs ram,  Radeon x1600 256mb
                                                                   Dell Inspiron 9100 3.06 P4 , 2 gigs ram,  Mobility Radeon 9700 128mb
Both give me the same result on previews.
I have Flexcolor 4.8.5 loaded on both.

Will Phocus speed things up?
