@JST I have to remind myself to hold the camera steady for about a half second after the viewfinder black-out starts. If I lower the camera too quickly, then I get the wavy rolling shutter effect. For portraits, small, involuntary, movements on the part of the subject are typically no issue. I suspect those small movements translate into too small area on the sensor to matter.
