H5D and Aperture - importing images

I just upgraded from my H3d and previously i would import the images by physically removing the scandisk card and use a usb reader to import directly into aperture. For some reason that is now not working on the H5d. Can anyone firstly advise if they have a faster, more efficient and workable solution to importing directly into Aperture?\

I am happy to switch over to Lightroom but does anyone know how i would consolidate and import all the galleries from Aperture? is this easy?
