Hi,

I think my 553ELX + CFII-39 has an connection problem.

If I press the shutter button(or click 'capture' at FC or Phocus),

CFII-39 captures image but camera doesn't works.

So I can see only black image on viewer window.

I can see this problem while CF card shooting, tethered shooting, every shooting condition.

I'm using Mac Book Pro, 80mm lens.

I suppose to these 1), 2), 3) has an error.

1) CFII-39's connection error

2) 80mm lens shutter problem or Camera body's connection error

3) ELX link cable's error

So I'll test with another body(503cw).

Is there anyone who experienced this before?

If you are.

Could you tell me your opinion?

Regards,

JK

Hi JK

Confirm that the Digital magazine menu: Menu > Settings > camera > is set to ELX. Back will need to be powered via battery if shooting to CF card or powered via firewire connection to computer.

Confirm that the ELX cable from ELX motor to i-adapter/CFII is seated properly, remove and reconnect.

Have you tried lenses other then the 80mm?

I would like you to remove the CFII from the ELX camera body. Look through the rear of the camera where the auxiliary curtains are located, fire the camera from the shutter release button.
Does the shutter in the lens close and then open after the exposure is completed? does the shutter remain closed after releasing the camera?
If the shutter in the lens remains closed, then the lens needs service, most likely the main spring needs replacement.

If the lens is functioning properly, try setting the Digital magazine menu: Menu > Settings > camera > is set to "FLash Synch"
Connect a Flash Synch cable from Lens to CFII.
Can you capture an image?
