Sure.  I've never had much truck with "sneaky" photography.  My style is say "hi" and be blatant about taking someone's photo.

Unless they indicate that they don't want it taken.  Then I just shrug and walk away. 

But, I've found that, most of the time, people respond well to someone with an impressive camera.  I think a photographer with a 'blad leverages everyone's "15 minute of fame" facet.
