Hi

Having had enough of squeezing the maximum storage from the meagre 80Gb hard drive installed in my MBP I decided to upgrade. WARNING: Do not do this if your machine is still in warranty as this will void it.  Before you start do the following.
1. Clone the original hard drive unless you are planning a reinstall.
2. Down load these instructions from : http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Core-Duo/Hard-Drive-Replacement/85/8/Page-1
3. Print the instructions off and attach double sided tape adjacent to the relevant sections where you have to remove screws.  There are about 30 screws to be removed by sticking them to the instruction sheet you will know where to put them back when you reassemble.
4. With the aid of two screw drivers and a my 7 year old daughter it took less then 30 minutes to install a 250Gb hard drive.

The benefits are:
Faster hard drive that is quieter, cooler running and uses less battery power.  Plus if you are considering using Boot Camp to run Windows then you have plenty of space to partition the drive.

regards
Tim
