You are risking to throw the camera on the floor with it if you or someone else trips over the cable, though.

You've missed the point Alex.
The goal here is to take a bit of the weight of the cable from the firewire connector.
How you keep your crowd calm around the camera set, is up to you.
I've tried a few different things and nothing is absolutely perfect.
The perfect solution would be a wireless file transfer to my mac. End of discussion.
Cheers mate,

I prefer to accidentally pull the cord out than to break it or drop the camera.

Try this, I made one myself and it works so far. Basically the same thing, but replace that short strap with an elastic band or two. The cable will still have a bit of movement if you step on it but you'll need to pull pretty hard to unplug it, and you'll feel that it got stuck long before it unplugs.
You'll just have to figure out the perfect distance where to attach the clip with a band to the cable.

I Love it...JerkStopper. I may send one to my most painful customers. I kind of like the idea, as my 10m firewire is too heavy at times and pulls out. But I am also nervy of the fact the entire camera may topple over, but I do mainly shoot handheld.

Did you test it? How did it go in real assignment conditions?

Thanks
