Quote from: davidjiang on Today at 03:23:20 AMI just got the 25V in the DJI store in Shanghai, and made a quick comparison with my XCD just in the store, when wide open, the center and side tiny better than 21, corner similar or 21 tiny better. but after f4, it's a killer.
AF is faster, shutter sound like 90V, and can be 1/4000!
But as mahillsc mentioned, 21 is 92 degree vs 82 degree, so I will keep my 21 for a while...
Anyway, quite happy with the 25V.
I will take it to a city walk tomorrow to do more test

Wow, you must've grabbed one of the first ones available. How many do they have in stock?

The MTF charts on Hassy's website looks very similar to the 21mm, but that one is wider. However, the XCD 30 chart still looks flatter - do you happen to have a 30mm to test?

Unfortunately I do not have the 30mm...

The new xcd 25 v lens is slightly lighter (1.3 %) than the older 21 mm. That said, I will keep my 21 mm instead of buying the new 25 v.

Quote from: o2mpx on Today at 08:50:19 AMWas surprised to see the announcement this morning and almost ordered one, despite having the 21mm and 28p. But upon checking, the 21mm is 600g vs new 25mm at 592g? Plus the MTF's aren't overwhelmingly better, and FOV less wide for my landscapes, where the wider aperture also isn't critical with most being shot at F8; so GAS subsided and will stick with the 21mm; when light weight is needed, have the 28p at 245g for the bag; so will stick with the 2 lenses for now.

Really puzzled by HB's strategy. Good to make new lenses, but they should be materially improved over the legacy, or provide key motivation to switch. The 25v doesn't weigh materially lighter, nor perform much better, providing less FOV, albeit the programmable button is a good feature, not sure it's compelling enough for existing legacy lens owners; perhaps new owners is the audience if they can't buy the original 21mm.
Ted Forbes claims that 25v is optically better than 21 (distortion, sharpness, vignetting). I have not watched his full review, nor have I any experience with 25v yet:

If it is correct that Hasselblad is now using a different manufacturer than the original XCD lenses (Panasonic???) these original lenses will be out of production and replaced by new models (V and P) and to make that fact less obvious the recent lenses are are not the same but similar focal length than the old ones. Otherwise it does not make sense to have such close spacing of focal lengths.
V and P lenses are designed for different usage (compact vs large aperture) and also price points so similar focal lengths make somewhat sense I only wish they would focus more on longer focal lengths especially a macro replacement (P version would be great)

Yes I saw that, but I'm not sure I understand what it's saying. Is it saying I can toggle between having the front scroll adjusting the aperture vs shutter speed by changing the mode (e.g. A vs S vs M)? Or is it saying within M mode, I can toggle the functions of the front scroll wheel?

I too misunderstood I think. I thought toggle meant you could change them over. But I tried on my X2D and that's not the case. As you said, only in S or A modes. Annoying. Apologies

I wonder what their future lens line-up will be? It seems they are releasing new V lenses in between old "classic" lens focal length - the 25mm being in between the 21 and 30mm. Does that mean the new widest angle will stop at 25mm? Or will they push further, and go with something wider than 21mm - e.g. 18, or 19 or something?
