The lenses / Re: XCD 55 v vignetting?
Last post by tenmangu81 - May 29, 2024, 12:36:44 AM
Yes, there is some vignetting with the XCD55V, indeed. But it is easily corrected when using Phocus or even Lightroom.
And yes, the XCD65 is better than the XCD55V, but much heavier and bulky.
And anyway, all the XCD lenses are great. Including the XCD55V !!

There is not any issue with films when going through the airport security controls.

REDUCED TO $3,000.

In addition to potential buyers who may be able to meet up in the Tampa / Lakeland, Florida area, I travel to the Atlanta, Georgia area every 4 to 5 weeks and am there 2 to 3 days.

Quote from: acg69 on May 24, 2024, 11:12:10 PMIf for some reason I needed a complement to the X2D for a substantially different experience, I would get one of the last 3 variants of the X100. There, the size-weight advantage is clear (the Leica is a tank!) and it is the quintessential street camera, if that's your thing.
Interesting. For what it's worth, I had an X100s (2nd generation) bought new in 2013. It followed my Rolleiflex, which went everywhere with me until that point :D I have used the X100s quite extensively for traveling since and loved it! It has now been replaced by the X2D + 45P (or 65) combo. If I needed/wanted something smaller today, I'd also consider the Ricoh GR IIIx. When not flying I still prefer film, either the above-mentioned Rolleiflex, Makina 67, or Nikon F3 + 40mm. My concern is bringing film through airport security.

X1D/X2D Cameras / Peak Design connectors safe on...

I am a fan of the Peak Design straps and quick attachment loops, but I wonder how those thin loops would wear on the HB clips, which seem more sharp edged than other camera split rings etc. Anyone had experience of using for a long period?

907X / is it worth to upgrade 50c to ...
Last post by pdprinter - May 28, 2024, 03:25:15 PM
I have the 907X50c for years and I am basically happy with it using the 28P, 40P and 90V. I am not so interested in higher pixel count but are some improvements with the 100C I consider a potential advantage:  lower weight (120g less), faster and better autofocus maybe slight improvements in colors and DR. I was hoping that IBIS would be possible but that did not happen which in my opinion is the most significant reason to upgrade (i.e. no tripods when it is not possible/inconvenient). Of course the 1TB SSD is cool. One alternative is the X2D but it has a major weight penalty compared to the X1D. Weight is for me important as I am using my cameras frequently on hikes including multiday backpacking on which I was fine with just the 907X50C and the 45P.
I am also very interested in macro photography and the 907X works fine in studio settings especially using some processing lenses and manual focus stacking but that is not something I want to use outdoors hiking. Also the focus bracketing works fine with the 45P or 90V using achromatic close up lenses but it is very slow so extremely challenging outdoors with any wind, more so compared to other systems.

yes, Hassy made a trade-off regarding size and weight and image quality. If you want the perfect image, xcd65 is the closest lens that has all of that :)

X1D/X2D Cameras / Re: Rear screen anomaly
Last post by Paul2660 - May 28, 2024, 03:13:54 AM
Sad to see this has carried over to the X2D. Does appear to be design flaw. Guess it's good practice not to store the camera screen down in a camera bag. Hard not to avoid pressing on that part of the screen in daily use either for playback review or changes to the camera settings.

thanks

It does look especially good, I'll give you that; but how safe and sturdy is it? With all this talk about the flimsiness of the lugs, I would be weary to let the camera hang from one of them. That's why I went with one that latches on the tripod hole via a BIG structure (BlackRapid). Granted, it doesn't look as good as this one (not by a longshot) but it feels and is more secure.
