Title: X1D auto focus error with XCD 90 3.2
Post by: ndscali on June 02, 2017, 01:03:24 AM
I am sure this topic has been dealt with before but I have experienced auto focus errors with this lens.
The further away from the subject you are, the worse it becomes.
All latest firmware updated. Manual focus yields sharp results, but autofocus has a mind of its own.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a fix on the way?
Thanks

I have as well. The errors at times are so significant that you might think the 90mm lens is not very good optically. It is, however, excellent when it is properly focused. To check for the errors, try using AF to focus on things at a distance and then go into magnified live view by pressing the soft button to call it up. Now try slightly adjusting the focus ring to see if the focus point becomes much crisper.

Yes, that is exactly what I do. There is always a small adjustment after checking the autofocus in magnified view.
Surely they have to rectify this issue with a firmware update?
It always seems to be front focussing. The further you are from the subject, the worse it looks. At short distances (eg 1m) it is barely noticeable, but it is noticeable if you zoom in.
