I noticed your "for sale" post in the classifieds, Marc. Are you planning on moving away from the Hasselblad X system?

I am Ian yes...whilst it is a very good to camera to use, and perfect in many ways, my needs are slightly wider than before as my projects change so I am having to move to another system. I will certainly miss working with it.

I have two arriving tomorrow, one from B&H and one from Hasselblad's online store. I don't need both. Before I return one of them, if anybody wants one, just let me know.

Which back are you using with the 907x – the CFV 100C or CFV 50C? The newer 100C comes with a dedicated adaptor that provides a hotshoe mount. The 50C will only trigger a flash (or Pocket Wizard) via a sync cable.

Quote from: Larsb on May 08, 2024, 07:33:16 PMI'm really interesting in getting this lens.  Does anyone know when it will be available in Australia?  I checked all the usual AU websites today and there is no mention of it. Perhaps it will take a bit more time

Late next week in limited numbers, apparently. I paid for mine today and am in the first batch. Ordered directly from D1 by emailing them. I didn't see it on their website at all either. Was told arrival late next week by D1 Stores today.

Gordon

Thanks Gordon - I put a deposit on the lens today (via CameraPro).  Hopefully mine will be part of the first batch too

thanks,

Lars

Looks like I already missed out on the first batch, but CameraPro advises there will be another batch of lenses in mid to late May.

Ordered the 25mm f/2.5V B&H yesterday and is to arrive FedEx tomorrow! I will make some non-scientific comparisons this weekend against my XCD lenses which include the discontinued 21MM f/4, 30mm f/3.5, 38mm f/2.5, and the 35-75mm f/3.5-4.5 which is on my X2D most of the time. Cheers

The lenses / Re: Hasselblad Filters...

You might want to look over this blog post by Roger Cicala, the now retired owner of Lens Rentals.

https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2017/06/the-comprehensive-ranking-of-the-major-uv-filters-on-the-market/

OK, this data is from 2017 and doubtless details will have changed, but what I took away from this is that the best manufacturers keep up with each other provided that you are looking at filters at or adjacent to the top of their respective lines.

I live in Oklahoma where wind blown "dust" is usually a factor if the camera is to be used outside. I equip each lens in my inventory with a filter (usually a B+W MRC Master 007 clear). As I most often remove the filter when the lens is used in the studio I prefer to use a brand that employs brass rather than aluminum rings (because brass is much less likely to get stuck in position on the lens).

One comment, perhaps germane to your situation, perhaps not. An executive of one of the leading filter manufacturers remarked that about 1 in 3 filters bearing the name of his company was a counterfeit. Look alike packaging is also available. Try searching "counterfeit photographic filters" - you'll find results concerning most of the top brands. The point: purchase filters only from a source you find worthy of your trust.
