Title: Phocus Freezes when Tethered
Post by: steve173 on July 27, 2017, 03:57:51 AM
I've had the same problems as many you have had; when shooting tethered after a few shots Phocus freezes and/or your camera locks up and you have to remove and reinsert the battery in order for the camera to work again.

I may have found the answer?

I'm using StarTech's firewire port which has two 800 ports. I moved the connection from port 1 to port 2 -- and everything works perfectly.

I shot yesterday for an hour. No problems. I shot for 30-minutes today. No problems.

Is it possible that the answer is as simple that the firewire card (or part) simply goes bad after extended use?

If you are having the same problem give my solution a try.

Hi,

I'm using Sonnet FW cards and I haven't changed the plugged port since installing it (4 years ago) so it sounds like something might be faulty if ones getting intermittent performance in such a small space of time. Am I presuming correctly that the card is a desktop card rather than laptops express port?
