Thanks Nick
Interesting but I think it's got a limited market ok if you have 2.5" drives to spare, it may be ok to house CF cards when they drop in price.
You will need a eSATA to Express Card 34 Adaptor to connect to your laptop @$40 - $80
As it uses one eSATA cable assume it must have port multiplication.
The eSATA connection is good but it's only marginally faster than FW 800 and you need separate power supply either USB or external unlike FW which can use bus power.
The NAS feature is novel but you'll be lucky to get 10MB/sec
I was setting up my system over the weekend and using share down a direct connected Ethernet cable (20Meters) between two Mac's and I could transfer at 76MB/sec
I think I will stick with a couple of Fire Wire 800 Lacie Rugged which can be configured to whatever RAID type required through Disc Utility
But I'm never happy until I have copies on at least two separate 3.5" HDDs in different physical locations
Thats why I have a Wiebetech (http://www.wiebetech.com/products/RTX400.php) portable 4 bay unit not as portable as the addonics unit but fits in a Peli case along with the MBP if I need to take it with me.
