907X / is it worth to upgrade 50c to ...
Last post by pdprinter - Today at 03:25:15 PM
I have the 907X50c for years and I am basically happy with it using the 28P, 40P and 90V. I am not so interested in higher pixel count but are some improvements with the 100C I consider a potential advantage:  lower weight (120g less), faster and better autofocus maybe slight improvements in colors and DR. I was hoping that IBIS would be possible but that did not happen which in my opinion is the most significant reason to upgrade (i.e. no tripods when it is not possible/inconvenient). Of course the 1TB SSD is cool. One alternative is the X2D but it has a major weight penalty compared to the X1D. Weight is for me important as I am using my cameras frequently on hikes including multiday backpacking on which I was fine with just the 907X50C and the 45P.
I am also very interested in macro photography and the 907X works fine in studio settings especially using some processing lenses and manual focus stacking but that is not something I want to use outdoors hiking. Also the focus bracketing works fine with the 45P or 90V using achromatic close up lenses but it is very slow so extremely challenging outdoors with any wind, more so compared to other systems.

yes, Hassy made a trade-off regarding size and weight and image quality. If you want the perfect image, xcd65 is the closest lens that has all of that :)

X1D/X2D Cameras / Re: Rear screen anomaly

Sad to see this has carried over to the X2D. Does appear to be design flaw. Guess it's good practice not to store the camera screen down in a camera bag. Hard not to avoid pressing on that part of the screen in daily use either for playback review or changes to the camera settings.

It does look especially good, I'll give you that; but how safe and sturdy is it? With all this talk about the flimsiness of the lugs, I would be weary to let the camera hang from one of them. That's why I went with one that latches on the tripod hole via a BIG structure (BlackRapid). Granted, it doesn't look as good as this one (not by a longshot) but it feels and is more secure.

I have 20mm and from time to time got a "Lens not recognized" notification and I decided to check pins on the connector and one of them was a little lower than the others, so I've grab tweezers and I shook it up and everything has been ok since then :)

Just purchased a 20mm Fotodiox macro tube to use on my X2D with 4/45 XCD lens. I get a "Lens not recognized" notification immediately.  Anybody have some advice?  Am I doing something wrong or is the tube not working?

I have several V lenses. I love using the rear focus button when in MF. I find it's very easy to use the front function to switch AF/MF (its default) then use AF-D at the rear to get a quick fix, than it is to use the lens clutch which deactivates the af-d button. Maybe it's just what we get used to. Should this be a separate thread?
