I have to say that the 100mm is probably my favourite lens. It's light fast to focus and I love the short DOF at 2.2.

This has to be one of my favorite lenses and I can't believe that more shooters haven't zeroed in on it.

These were shot under theatre lights at ISO 200 and the lens was almost wide open.

I really want to get this lens, but first i want to have a zoom then later i can add this 100 to my collection.

I purchased this lens at the beginning of the year, just as I was experimenting with "digital tintypes" (which has me dumbing down the H4d with 10 stops of neutral density and full blue filtration giving me a wet collodian-like BW conversion and 1-2 second exposures wide open in full sun.) I like that this lens is very sharp at 2.8 or 3.2, much better than the 80mm, and that i can throw out the background and foreground on a full length portrait.

That's a very interesting exposure method you've got there... so you use the blue and ND filter together? What version of the blue filter are you using?

I've been using a standard deep blue filter (I forget the number) on some images, and on others just using the blue filter in Phocus (actually a pretty tweaked version of it). The result is similar...darkening foliage and ruddying up the skin tones... here's another using the phocus filter instead of a filter on the lense. Most of these I've been shooting in direct sun, having the models stare into it (just like my momma and kodak taught me back in the 60's). This particular day had no sun, so I dispensed with the ND as well...which is primarily there to slow the shutter speeds down.

I just love cows ... and the 100/2.2

More shots - all handheld.

The 100 to me is the most usable lens in the whole lineup IMHO. Small (-ish), fast ... makes the H-beasts almost as usable as a D3X. I love the colors it renders. This to the H-series is the Noctilux (1.0) to the M9 ... the one lens camera combo? perhaps Hasselblad does a similar upgrade to 1.8 or so that Leica did from 1.0 to 0.95? Like a lot sharper but retaining the "wrong" but just beautiful wide open rendering?

This would go on my lens wishlist - a very fast, "normal" angle lens of Noctilux qualities. Would pay any money for that, like I payed for the Leica glass.

PS: Anybody out there shooting M9 and all the Lux glass, too? Ever done a per ounce price comparison? :-))

@meshuggener how come i see a lot of background nose in your photo? you say you shot on base iso of 50..
So, did you add it on pupose? or overdone a bit USM? i can't tell?  absolutely magnificent and beautiful shot with great lighting.

I shot it at 50 iso, added some noise in LR4 to get a bit more of texture (I don't like the too smooth look of digital photography -in this sort of pictures-). Maybe the jpg compression added some noise too. What is USM ? Maybe I over-exposed in post the background, actually I don't remember, and that can bring some noise.

The light was the available light  ;)

This is a wonderful image.  It actually looks surreal.  Great tones and overall look.  I saw it over at Getdpi.

It took my some time to get this image. I wanted all the blades in sync and pointing upwards the right corner. The problem was that the blades didn't rotate in the same speed.  :)

Hasselblad H4D-50 | HC 2,2/100 | f16 | 1/800s | iso 50

For the following test, I took a series of pictures at the end of a field with the camera slanted so that the horizon goes from corner to corner. Then I rotated the pictures and cut a small strip from corner to centre. The idea is to test the lens best aperture for a landscape picture.

Curious about something. So people seem to believe this legs is faster than the 150mm. I'm curious how much faster this lens focused. I just stepped into MF for the first time (starting with a h1 and p30, which is what I can afford, rising dinner money for a portrait lens). Coming from DSLR land, I shoot my portraits mostly around 135 (the canon 135/2 is my favourite). O never go below 100 on 35mm. So the 100 on the p30 is a bit wider than I like to shoot with, but of the AF speed makes up for that, I might accept it as a compromise...

In addition to the faster shutter, the orange dot lens supports autofocus on an X1D with the XH adapter.

Not really, no. It is not a landscape lens. Higher up this page, you have slanted horizon pictures from me. I did the same pictures with the 80mm for you to compare.

This is one of my favorites from this lens, actress Nina Arianda hand held long shutter speed. NYC downtown, weekday mid afternoon.

Then there is the other side of the spectrum, Marloes in studio.

Quite a useful lens, the HC 2.2/100.

The couple of times I've rented an HC 100mm for projects, its proved to be an amazing lens. Incredible detail, rendering, and fast to focus. Its also been handy for product work.

Below is an image from a portrait session with photographer Anthony Friedkin where I used the 100mm.
