Title: Hasselblad HC 100mm Lens Repair
Post by: Mr.Gale on January 10, 2019, 08:25:22 AM
I'm having a problem with this lens. I haven't used it in a long time (it only has 1700 clicks on it) and yesterday when I tried to use it, it would not autofocus. I cleaned the contacts on both the camera and lens but it didn't help. If I put the lens to my ear and push the release button I hear a click but not the focus motor. In manual mode it works fine, I get the green arrows when the focus is reached and the shutter fires. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Is there a camera repair facility in the San Francisco Bay Area that works on Hasselblad camera and lenses?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sounds like a broken AF gear. Just had mine fixed in Sweden for the same reason.

Thanks for the feedback.
Could you hear the AF motor when you push the shutter release?

Just a click, no movement in motor. I've had several MF lenses (Hasselblad and Leica) with AF failures even at low counts. If memory serves me right most of  them failed after not having been used for an extended period.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I haven't used the lens in a long time, the shutter count is only 1800. The other thing I found out is in the US Hasselblad will not sell parts to outside repair facilities so I have to send the lens to them for repair.

Same Problem here: HC100, 5.000 exp., not used for two years.

Motor gives a little sound, but no action.

Best,

Bernd

I also have the failed gear in my HC 100mm lens. I followed the instructions here: https://youtu.be/0vwkD9DYxgE (https://youtu.be/0vwkD9DYxgE) and bravely opened up my lens to take a look. The pinion gear that appears to be mounted on the motor has a mis-shaped tooth which jams agains the next gear. My lens has only 1000 shutter releases and is about 8 years old. I'm currently getting quotes from Hasselblad and a couple of small specialists. It's disappointing that Hasselblad don't offer any kind of recall or free repairs in the way Leica do for very common faults that are clearly a design error.
