I too have the BR wrist strap. When I git my X2D it was the Adventure Field Kit that ships with a BR strap. But I use the wrist strap normally anyway. I tried the Peak Design for a couple of year. It was fine but I never liked the look, and it felt flimsy, so I went back to BR.

So many choices... Personally, I don't mind the original strap and I have had zero problems with it. When I am out and about primarily to shoot (instead of walk around when I use the neck strap) I use the BlackRapid wrist strap and it is just great. I like the fact that the attachment to the body is exceptionally strong compared to most and that it does not get in the way (i.e. attaching to the side lug as well). But as with cameras, ymmv, or different strokes for different folks:)

Quote from: boojum on May 18, 2024, 01:34:11 PMI saw this braided leather wrist strap in an early X2D review by Matt Granger and liked it.  So I sent off for one and got it.  Soft and strong.  It works.  Currently out of stock but when something sells that well it usually is back in stock after a while.

The dead cameras.com straps are also hand made leather, and he takes them to screw into the tripod socket, just using the Hasselblad lugs as security.

The lenses / Re: XH Converter 0,8

I have the 0.8 with HC300 on X2D, work well, almost no any impact on infinity shots, for MFD, bit softer on wide open.

I don't trust the Hasselblad X2D style lugs and straps on them have come off in my experience. I always attach a wrist strap to a base plate that I purchased for the X2D and that gives me a sense of security. I still use a neck strap attached to the horrible lugs, but never by itself.  If there is one thing that I wish Hasselblad did differently, it is the lugs on the side of the camera.

Quote from: MGrayson on May 16, 2024, 11:27:38 PMI've never dropped a baby or a camera, and straps get in the way. When I do need one for the extra hand it provides, I go sling-type. Blackrapid or Sun-sniper. The latter actually has a lock on the camera connector that prevents it from coming loose unintentionally. I particularly like using them to hold a long lens by the lens foot. Then I can swap out to a wide angle lens and leave the telephoto hanging for easy access.

But all of these introduce extra points of failure, and I don't trust them without a hand on the camera at all times.

I used to say the same thing and after 30+ years I was hiking in Montana, tripped and almost lost the X2D 10 days after buying it. I saved it, got a bit scratched up and have been looking for a strap solution that allows me to use the tripod plate and side holder without detaching anything for use/mounting.

Quote from: Ralf on May 17, 2024, 08:53:08 PMOK, that's right. But unfortunately the Leica S system has been discontinued.

How official is that? I've heard many rumors from inside sources that are all over the map. For every "the S is dead" there's a "the S4 is coming with all new lenses". I personally believe the former, but I'm curious what your source is.

I remember a report that production of the S3 had ended and rumors that Leica was working on a mirrorless medium format camera.

Somehow that fits in with the current market situation in which almost all manufacturers are unfortunately discontinuing their DSLRs. (Hasselblad is also discontinuing the H6D.) The only ones who are staying true to the mirror, at least in 35mm format, are Pentax. (I don't know whether this is just out of necessity because they missed the trend.) The 645z will probably not have a successor either.

Quote from: o2mpx on May 18, 2024, 05:01:12 AMClearly there's no comparison in terms of build and user experience, but for practicality, many new buyers might opt for Fuji now?
Not as far as I am concerned. Build, user experience and practicality are what attracted me in the HB system in the first place. Within my budget, I much prefer an X2d + 1-2 lenses (I have a 45P and 65) rather than a Fuji GFX with more lenses. GFX are certainly very capable tools, but I could not find any pleasure in using something as big, ugly, clunky and uninspiring. (You guessed- I shoot for fun, not for work.)

As a side note, why Fuji did not put more effort into industrial design of the GFX is a mystery to me, after they created such beautiful cameras as their X (APSC) series.
