X1D/X2D Cameras / Re: XD2 Strap - Alternatives?
Last post by Patrick CM - May 18, 2024, 06:35:11 AM
You'll see from my post earlier that the strap I use attaches to the bottom of the x2D while there's an extension to the camera lug. That's a safety feature.

Using a peak design standard plate and 2 anchors with their slide strap.

Not ideal as both anchors are attached to the plate. Wish there's a way to attach a peak design anchor to one of the lugs.

Thought about attaching an anchor to the original strap lug but didn't want the constant turning of the lug mar the finish.

As mentioned by others, happy with the X2D and XCD lenses; just wishing for lighter weight, but equivalent quality teles and zoom V lenses.

It does raise a question if we didn't own HB, with the latest Fuji announcement, would a new MF photo only buyer go with Fuji or HB given the lenses available?

Clearly there's no comparison in terms of build and user experience, but for practicality, many new buyers might opt for Fuji now?

How official is that? I've heard many rumors from inside sources that are all over the map. For every "the S is dead" there's a "the S4 is coming with all new lenses". I personally believe the former, but I'm curious what your source is.

Sony developed a MF global shutter sensor some years ago https://petapixel.com/2021/03/09/sony-has-developed-a-128mp-global-shutter-medium-format-sensor/ and if one eliminates some of its extra width to 44x33 it would be still around 120MP (not that I need more than 50MP). And Sony is not the only sensor manufacturer developing global shutter sensors but import is that there are no penalties in image quality like color accuracy and DR.
Leica's S-system had some lenses with or without central shutter, without lighter and less expensive. So Hasselblad could do the same.

Thank you, I didn't know that!

Quote from: dece on July 13, 2022, 02:13:59 AMI don't know, you'll have to find the service manuals
(I think I've read somewhere that old? 500(C) didn't have it ... 'not sure)

The manual is here: https://galerie-photo.com/manuels/hasselblad-500-503cw.pdf

The Hasselblad tools needed for proper focusing screen adjustment are:
V-2229 Focal length gauge
V-2236 Microscope
V-4151/52 Focusing tester
V-4704 Key
V-4705 Focusing screen adapter

Does anyone here know where to obtain the key V-4704? Would be very helpful.

Quote from: Ralf on May 17, 2024, 07:37:45 PMI don't see there being a global shutter for a 44x33 100 MPIX sensor in the foreseeable future.

It however appears that the 128 MP global shutter sensor that Sony now has, exhibits (surprisingly) a similar dynamic range than the 102 MP in the X2D. The sensor area is slightly larger, but I'd reckon that not to be a major issue.

Quote from: Ralf on May 17, 2024, 07:32:44 PMThe only alternatives with a leaf shutter are PhaseOne, Leica Q (1, 2, 3) and the Fuji X100 (something).

OK, that's right. But unfortunately the Leica S system has been discontinued.

I really liked the concept of the S3.
