As far as my use case goes, the X2d is perfect. Anything else, I've got the Nikon Z8.

Quote from: pb on May 16, 2024, 08:05:37 AMGood evening all,

I am finding the strap that comes with the camera quite fiddly. Has anyone found a non-Hasselblad strap that seamlessly works with the camera?

Many thanks.

Kind regards,
Paul

The X2D is amazing for its intended audience/use and the IQ is unmatched. Do I want continuous and eye AF? Yes. Do I need 10fps? I have a Sony camera for that kind of work: mountains don't move that fast.

The Fujifilm GFX 100S II just got announced with the same new sensor of the GFX 100 II. Fuji claims 30% more dynamic range but when one looks at https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm the improvements are minor. What I think is more significant is that the readout speed is twice as fast as the previous generation allowing higher frame rates. Also there are supposed to be a much improved AF in the second generation of these cameras.
Hasselblad just came out with the 907X-100C but I assume it uses the same generation of sensor than the X2D. Perhaps they are working on a X3D using the recent generation of 102MPX sensors but maybe there are so slow that this sensor will be discontinued before they are done with camera development.
Assuming that there will be only minor upgrades in image quality with the recent sensor it would be still interesting for me if Hasselblad can release a camera with higher frame rate (and faster focus bracketing which would be important for me) and better AF performance. Otherwise I would be happy with the feature set of the X2D with no video and stupid film simulations.

X1D/X2D Cameras / X2D and Astrophotography
Last post by pb - May 16, 2024, 11:32:39 PM
Good afternoon all,

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience using the X2D for astrophotography - in particular connecting to a telescope.

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Paul

I've never dropped a baby or a camera, and straps get in the way. When I do need one for the extra hand it provides, I go sling-type. Blackrapid or Sun-sniper. The latter actually has a lock on the camera connector that prevents it from coming loose unintentionally. I particularly like using them to hold a long lens by the lens foot. Then I can swap out to a wide angle lens and leave the telephoto hanging for easy access.

But all of these introduce extra points of failure, and I don't trust them without a hand on the camera at all times.

You can also attach the lugs of the included strap to (almost) any commercially available strap.

Originally I had planned to use an Eddycam strap for this. I have had good experiences with the wide and long versions on my heavy Nikons.
