The lenses / Re: XCD 28P Released

There is another option.  Instead of waiting for the alert - I ordered the 38V from B&H on Jan 18 - backordered.  They don't charge your credit card until the item is shipped.  Mine was shipped on Feb 28, and I didn't have to fight others who were waiting for the alert.  I know they were sold out almost immediately.  If you get your lens from another source, you can always cancel your order (with B&H).

Thanks Ian,
Yes I will likely be tethering for client shoots, but there may be times I will need to work faster and just be going off the screen. The contrast makes shooting contrasty scenes very difficult. I hope they do an update which allows profiles for less contrast and to calibrate the screen, unlikely though. Will just be one of those things you get used to overtime.

At mtclearwave :
Set up an alert on the hasselblad website, and if you're not fast (like me), set up alerts at your favorite retailers too. Phone them, it worked for me the day after the announcement on the official site.

X1D/X2D Cameras / Re: Your experience with Hasse...

I felt that my experience in North America was good.

I've had to send in an X1D II and also an XCD 90, both for user clumsiness issues.

In both cases, upon initial email contact I received an acknowledgment within the business day.  I was asked for contact information, product failure description, and given a case number.  I shipped the item to California  ( in their original boxes ), and provided a tracking number and a photo of what I was sending.

I received notice when the shipment arrived, followed up with a detailed quote and invoice.  Once paid, the repair was initiated, I received a notice when the work was done and further notice when shipped (with tracking number).  Later on, there was follow up with a service satisfaction survey.

As I recall total turnaround time was 3-4 weeks, the bulk of which was spent in transit (and customs at the Canada/US border).  I felt kept in the loop at all times and well taken care of.

Was it ideal having to ship to another country, and not be offered a loner?  No.  But as an amateur, there was no real impact to the work I do.  Moving forward, and with a view to professional work, I've kept the X1D II as a backup to my X2D and have pairs of lenses with similar focal lengths (e.g. XCD 38V and XCD 45P, XCD 80 and XCD 90).

Hope this helps,
Scott.

Hi guys,

I am curious about your experience with Hasselblad support and/or repair service and whether there is a difference between Europe and the States.

Thanks for your participation!

I now have had the exact same problem with my XCD 35-75mm lens. Tack sharp when used with electronic shutter. Jittery/unsharp images when using leaf shutter. It'll go to Hasselblad for service next week. I'd be interested in any repair experience you've had with the lens. Thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe, how did it go? Is it solved?

I sent the lens to Hasselblad for examination and repair. They concluded that the lens was within specs and sent it back to me. I subsequently sold the lens.

Joe

I've tested the zoom today with the X1DII, and dispite what I wrote in my previous post, the images are also blurry. It's less obvious (due to the lower resolution) but clearly visible when zoomed in. When using the electronic shutter images are sharp and micro contrast is more defined.
It has to be the leaf shutter.
I'll get the zoom to my local dealer later this week and have her deal with Hasselblad customer support. I hope I have more luck than Joe. So far my experience with HB Europe (Sweden directly) has been quite good. That is without taking the three month it took them to repair the lens hood of my 135mm, into account.
How hard can it be to send a couple of missing screws?

I wonder myself... haven't had issues with my 45P on either the X1D II or X2D.
