X2D paint wear on body?

A few "battle scars" can give a camera a bit of character and show it has been well used.  I did really like when the camera bodies were made of brass.  My old Canon F1 (the original version from the 1970's), has the black paint worn on the edges and the underlying brass can be seen - it looks quite good.

I recently purchased a new X2D and have only done a few frames in the studio, putting in down on the table here and there. I was quite surprised that even with this careful initial use. the baseplate paint near the serial number (see image) has scratched off. I expect wear and tear over my time with it, but compared with other (black painted) cameras over my time, it doesn't seem very durable. Any comments/experiences?
