Wired Shutter Release Issue

I tried using a 3rd party Wired Shutter Release with my H5D. Each press helps me focus right but doesn't trigger the shutter at all. What am I doing wrong? Is there anything in the settings I should be aware of? Never had the need to use a remote earlier. So a bit lost.
Attached is the photo of the cable.

Hi, the cable release I use for H is also external. The shape of the insert jack seems to be the same. I use it on H5,H6 with no problem.
I am attaching a photo in case you are interested.
If it is an anti-shake cable release, I would also recommend using a self-timer 2sec. I have it set to the button around my thumb in the function settings.
