X1DII AF illuminator LED won't turn off

Hi,
wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the AF illuminator LED not turning off on the X1DII?
My camera is continuously displaying a white light even when I turn the camera off. It is deselected in the camera settings.
If I take the camera battery out the light turns off. As soon as I put the battery back in it comes on before the camera is turned on.
Any suggestions on what I could try to turn it off please? the camera seems to be functioning normally apart from this problem.
