ALAIN

Hello,

I use my old H5D60 more and more frequently for painting reproductions.
Unfortunately, the connector for the connection to the computer (connected mode) no longer works since I got caught in the wire!
I've already talked about this here but really, using it without connected mode is really painful and I'm still tempted to disassemble the back, to see what's broken (maybe not much... ).
If sharing an experience of opening a 60Mpx CCD back could help me...
The thing is, everything works great apart from that!

Ah, another question but on the menu: I made user menus including one for these repros. I can't memorize the timer function! Everything else yes, including early mirror lifting, but not the Timer!

best regards

Alain from France

Bonjour Alain 8)

Its really worth having it professionally serviced, especially, if its one of your favourites.
That way you can be 100% sure that your freshly serviced 60 MP CCD digital-back will perform like new!

Personally, I would not take the risk Alain
If you dont have an industrial 'clean-room' environment, as the split-second that sensor is exposed to any ambient unfiltered and un-ionised atmosphere, it will be covered in micro-dust-particles!!
Considering the current-replacement value/cost of your 60 MP CCD - its easily into-the-thousands-ball-park, personally, I'd opt for leaving it to those with the required service experience, specialist-tools and calibration-expertise.
Here is one 60 MP CCD digital back + HD4 kit for sale https://www.ffordes.com/p/COM-IV47BQ41415/hasselblad-h/h4d-complete-60mp-digital-back they seem to really hold their value!!

Hello Dicky,
Your advice is wise and I'm not going to start dismantling ;)
The Victors (Hasselblad France sav) are asking €2,500 for this repair, which would be done directly in Sweden.
For the use I make of the H5D-60, I'll just use it offline (and maybe keep some change for the X2D100 or an X1DII second hand, having sold my X1D before its discount).
Thank you very much for your feelings and for the link of the H4D-60.
Best regards from France,
Alain
PS : do you have news about X2D100 ?

Bienvenue au club des sardines sur toast!
(aka saving up for a beloved Hasselblad service)

Seems as though you have got yourself a "rarer-model" 60 MP CCD digital back.
Have always been and will remain an absolute V system-fundimentalist, even to my dying-day 8)

Never used the XD system, "mirror-less" doesnt do-it-for-me, as prefer to use Optical Viewfinders
The thought of exposing the immaculately cleaned sensor unit to the ambient atmosphere, each and every time you change out a lens, that would, make me wonder?

You make me want to take the H5D-60 outdoors more often ;)
Ah, for the other important subject: here is the link to our favorite supplier, with our choice n°1 "Saint Georges in olive oil"!

They look like "poshest of Sardines" Alain 8)
Perhaps the sort of thing one would expect in Claridges of Mayfair 8)
Happy to stick with the "Sainsburys in Olive Oil" ones at EU €.48c (UK 40p) per can, until I have got the "digital-back-service-piggy-bank-fund" topped-up, again! haha

Talking of getting out and about with a Hasselblad, that reminds me!
Have a one 'tinkering' job to do next, change out all the light-seal traps on my A12 6x6 120 film backs.
Kit was ordered from Dick Werner, over in California, superb looking instructions, with seriously cool how-to-tips! sheet supplied with the kit (© Copyright Dick Werner).
Looked on line too, so will watch a video or two first, before attempting!

Always really enjoyed shooting on medium format film with the Hasselblad V system, including B+W documentary work too!
