x1d third party repair service

Good afternoon all!

I have a question,

Some time over the winter, LCD on my X1D snapped internally. There is no damage to the glass, but LCD itself looks shattered and isn't usable.

I mailed camera to the US service center in NJ. They quoted me about 444$ to replace LCD plus gaskets and things of that sort, replaced within a week. I found it reasonable, agreed and paid. 

Week later, instead of camera, they sent me another message stating that the camera needs to be shipped to Sweden. For that to happen, I must authorize up to $1250 in fees. If repair turn over $1250 they will call to confirm, but there would be $200 bench fee if I reject, plus I assume shipping in all directions.

This isn't exactly reasonable LCD replacement process IMO all things considered.

I wonder if anyone had experience with third party electronic repair places?
Rossman does MacBook's left and right. Sure there has to be a shop capable swapping LCD ... given parts are available.

Any suggestions appreciated,!
