At what point should I give up?

Yea already did that, I believe it to be the contacts in the camera because if I move the lenses just a little bit as if I am removing them it starts to work, if they click in then I get the error messages. I have contacted service and will have to send the camera in for them to look at. Also I am getting the white focusing square turning red, which means it's not autofocusing, but again as soon as I press the lens release and start to dismount the lens all is fine.

 Yes, I finally got a good X1D body that recognizes all lenses (#4). It has been fine since.  I just purchased an X2D. Amazingly, the first one I got from B&H photo had an issue with the touch screen, but the replacement is perfect. I am still with Hasselblad because of the ergonomics and IQ of the camera, despite quality control issues.
