While my EVF experience is limited, I am finding something that appears to be different with the X1D II and would like to inquire if this is normal operation.
This occurs regardless of whether the Live View/Exposure Simulation boxes are checked or not.  Camera has been reset and behavior is the same after settings are restored to defaults.  Raw images, latest firmware.  Monitor brightness set at default.

I rented an X1D II prior to purchase and don't recall observing this behavior.

QUESTION 1
When photographing a brightly lit scene the initial view through the EVF appears brighter than the actual scene.  On half pressing the shutter button the scene view darkens down to about what I would expect the actual exposure to look like, and then becomes brighter again.

Alternatively, when photographing a modestly lit scene the initial view through the EVF appears darker than the actual scene.  On half pressing the shutter button the scene view lightens up to about what I would expect the actual exposure to look like, and then becomes darker again.

QUESTION 2
Examining the images in FastRawViewer, the images show to be properly exposed by the histogram being all the way to the right without clipping, but viewing them on the screen appear about 1 stop lighter than I would expect.  Similar result viewing the images in Photoshop.  A 1 stop reduction in Photoshop or Phocus produces what I regard as a proper exposure.

The monitor was just calibrated with an x-rite I1Display Pro.  Observing the diaphragm operation appears normal.

I rather susp[ect that what I'm seeing is normal operation, but a confirmation would be useful.  Or anything else you might care to contribute would be appreciated.
