I use both the X1DII and GFX100 (GFX50s before) and the EVF experience is not much different, save for the longer blackout on the Hasselblad.

As some have pointed out overall speed or ergonomics will be more defining factors.

Sorry but the quality of a view finder is what my eye sees, not just the spec of a screen that is in the depth of it.

The EVF is the worst part of X1D and mkII.  I cannot believe we got this coarse EVF when Leica SL2 got 5.5MP gorgeous beauty.

I surely get into the flow and IQ is superior on X1D but the EVF for SL2 is so much better than the overall experience is leaning towards Leica.  Then again I thought all EVFs are inferior to OVF and my regular cameras a Leica M.  I even got the Leica S after X1D since I prefer OVF, and here it was in medium format.  But then, when I got the LS2, I was amazed by how unbelievably lifelike it is.  Nothing like Q2, much, much better.

My intuition is that we'll be paying for X2D to get a better EVF.  We paid $5K for mkII to get a 5 sec startup vs 10 sec and we'll be paying as much for X2D to get a better EVF.

I don't notice any big difference between the viewfinders of my Leica and X1D.
I use them together for 1 1/2 year.

The problem I have to deal with is cities at night at low ISO.
Very bright lights in the scene make the viewfinder gain go back and so shadow areas are completely black, I can no more see any detail of the scene, and when I change the viewfinder modus dark areas become bright but so much grainy (only viewfinder not image files) that you can again hardly see scene details.

I think this shows how personal the experience can be, I find the Leica EVFs terribly contrasty...I am not saying the X1DII has a better EVF, but i definitely prefer it....
As far as resolution goes, the soon to be announced Sony A7SIII is supposed to have a 9.5 mill pixel EVF which sounds nice and will probably be the new standard....
I would prefer better peaking or some other manual focus help....no matter how detailed the EVF, manual focus was hard with the brightest optical finders, a good prism or split screen was always necessary
