How do I switch of AF

How do I switch off the shutter release so that it stops trying to AF. I just want the True Focus on the back of the grip to focus especially when I am using MF and when I hit the shutter release it try to re focus...........very frustrating

set the focusing mode of the camera into MF mode, then the shutter button will do only the release of the shutter. pretty easy and standard with H. Also turning the lens for manual focusing does the job and the shutter release will not change the selected focus.

Hint: in addition to the True Focus enabled on the True Focus button (which works even when the focus mode is set to MF) you can reprogram the AEL-button to "Drive" and hence by pressing this button the normal autofocus is activated (even in MF mode).
And if you need the exposure lock then you assign that functionality on the half-press of the shutter release button...
