I am searching  for a support for my X1D in places which don't allow floor-standing tripods. I'm interested in the RRS Pocket 'Pod, either ultra or basic, with a B-25 head. Has anyone used this combination or had experience with similar products? Can these, or should these, be used with the RRS L-bracket?

Thanks

I have RRS TFA-01 Ultra + BC-18. Rock solid with the RRS plate on the X1D. Have done plenty of night time shots with it without any issues.

Another option worth considering is the Leica table-top tripod. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/30592-REG/Leica_14100_Table_Tripod.html  Carried mine with the large ball-head around Europe in my camera bag.  You can use it as a chest pod or up against a convenient wall/light post.  I assume with the proper mounting plate you could use it with a RRS L-plate as well.

Always take notice when purchasing a Tripod of its Load Capacity.
Here are 2 options that are scalable and cheaper:

1- Manfrotto Virtual Reality Aluminum Base with an 8.8lb Load at $80: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1364393-REG/manfrotto_mbaseconvrus_virtual_reality_aluminum_base.html

2- Manfrotto PIXI EVO Mini Tripod with 5.5ib at $40 and a built in Head:https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1178735-REG/manfrotto_mtpixievo_rd_pixi_evo_mini_tripod.html

The latter is my favourite, but when you see one be sure it is the correct size as there are a few of them and its hard to tell them apart sometimes.
