Hasselblad updates the XCD lens roadmap for the award-winning X1D-50c with the XCD 135mm and the 80mm lenses, rapidly expanding the XCD lens range to a total of nine dedicated lenses. By end of 2018 X1D users will have a wide range of lens options to maximize their creative vision.

The XCD 135mm f/2.8 lens comes with a dedicated 1,7x converter that extends the tele lens to 230mm f/4.8, while the XCD 80mm is set to become the highest aperture lens that Hasselblad has ever introduced.

In addition to these two new lenses, the previously announced XCD 22mm ultra-wide-angle lens has been updated to 21mm to meet the Hasselblad users' demand for a better wide-angle lens experience.

Like the other XCD lenses, all new XCD lenses have an integral central shutter offering a wide range of shutter speeds and full flash synchronisation up to 1/2000th second.

Hasselblad is also releasing aperture details for previously announced XCD lenses: the XCD 21 ultra-wide-angle lens will feature f/4.0, the XCD 35-75mm zoom lens will have f/3.5-4.5, and the XCD 65mm lens will have f/2.8.

All new XCD lenses, besides XCD 80mm, are expected to be available during the first half of 2018, while the XCD 80mm high aperture featuring lens is planned for the second half of 2018.

The demand for the previously announced XCD 120mm macro lens and the XH lens adapter exceeded Hasselblad's expectations, but the production is now being ramped up and orders are being fulfilled globally.

In addition to the nine dedicated XCD lenses, the XH lens adapter allows the X1D owners to use all twelve HC/HCD lenses.

Pricing and additional technical specifications will be provided closer to the availability of each lens.

I have to say, I am not impressed.

Not only that they again change their roadmap (some lenses have been promised for February 2018, now it will be first semester, or even later in the case of the zoom? - here text and roadmap graphics are contradictory). But the writing was already on the wall, e.g. delays with the 120mm macro.

And the "tele", a 135mm (nearly the same as the 120mm macro), with a converter gets to 230mm with f/4.8. What are they thinking. As landscape shooter I have now to look for some alternatives for a tele with decent max. aperture. I probably will buy now some Leica R lenses (Apo 180mm, Apo 280mm) for my X1D.

Also the 65mm, 80mm and 90mm seems a little bit redundant to me.

Hey Hasselblad, how about delivering what you promised ontime, before promising more that you can't deliver?

I'm excited about the new lenses, but like others, price point and delivery times are the only things that concern me.  I'm hoping it doesn't take a year to deliver the newly announced lenses, and that we will actually see lenses shipped/orders fulfilled in bulk in the first half of 2018.

I like the idea of the 135.  Portrait lens that goes to a tele with a converter.  F4.8 is in no way limiting for me and landscapes because most of landscape shooting is stopped down on a tripod anyway.  For my telephoto needs currently, I may pick up a Pentax 645 80-160 FA and a P645 adapter.  I used one on a 645z for awhile and it was ok.

I also don't think the 65, 80, and 90 are redundant.  The 65mm slips nicely in between the 45mm and 90mm, something I've found a need for in my own shooting.  The 80 is supposed to be the "highest aperture lens Hasselblad has ever produced".  The fastest Hasselblad lenses I know of are the V 110mm f2 and the HC 100mm f2.2, so I'm assuming it will be faster than those two.  If you need fast, go with the 80, or else stick with the 90mm...or get both.  Options aren't a bad thing IMHO.

Sounds great, but did anyone in the marketing department check with the people in production to see if there's any chance they might be able to come up with some of these things sometime in the future?

As far as I can tell, there are still only three native lenses one can buy for this camera.

I am waiting for the XCD 35-75 mm zoom lens - hopefully in 2018.

For anyone who is concerned about the f4.8 max aperture with the 135 lens plus extender, just remember - in the "golden days" of Hasselblad
(V cameras with Zeiss lenses), the beloved 250mm Sonnar lens had a max aperture of f5.6.
