I noticed a few poerbwanks suggested but I am looking for a permanent electricity power one
Will any odd one from the electronic store will do?
what specs should I ask for (sorry this is NOT my area of expertise)

Anything that outputs 12V and 2A min with the right plug should be fine. There are adapters with exchangeable plugs, they should have the right size.

mmm when I look for those specs it will give me a 24 W.
On the camera it says 12-24 DC and 18W
Should I not get a 12 DC, 1500 MA, 18W one?

If you have the choice, than just go for a power supply unit (PSU) which is capable to deliver more than 18W. It doesn't hurt if the PSU has some reserve power and it will run cooler...

That would work as well but, as desertdiver noted, being slightly above minimal specs will not hurt.

Ok thanks guys.
Since I was a bit scary I took the safe route and it works. I can now fire up that back with the adapter.
Thnx for your support

If you could post a link to the actual power supply you bought, it might help users in your country to know a source of a working adapter. Thanks.

I bought it (very traditional, I know) in the highly specialised electronics shop in a nearby city.
It was a basic 12V-1500mA-18W adapter
The only issue was the plug, which did not fit
So the guy cut the existing plug off and put a new one on for me that fits.

One thing to note though...
You have to first power the back up before putting the USB in, otherwise it will not power up!!
