Good for head-shots and close-ups.

Camera test (H4D-60 at Hasselbuddy (UK) event.)

Had to use 400 ISO for f16 for DOF.

I move to get the cross-lighting on her cleavage, and lost the background.

I used the 300mm exclusively for my book "The Joy of Swimming"   http://www.blurb.com/books/1350244
Shots of a swimmer taken from a sand-ridge by the seashore.
Autofocus on the swimmer's head then panned on a tripod to compose.
Quite a good success rate considering the rapid movement of the swimmer.
Here is a sample; montage of two shots.

f20, MLU, ISO 50.

Brick building is about 550m from the camera.

This is soft, due to diffraction, but, in the full res 100% crop, you can almost read the number plates on the white car in the distance: th black car in the middle distance is somewhere near the plane of sharpest focus.

Lizard photographed in Wadi Rum / Jordan with HC300 on H4D50

Snake discovered in Wadi Rum/Jordan and captured with HC300 on H4D-50 @ f7.1, ISO200, fill flash with integrated flash unit due to lack of additional unit at hand and of course for the reason to reduce our movements (going back to the car, while that chap might disappear). My son and I were armed with a 300mm lens each of us, started to take pictures from a bigger distance and approached meter by meter side by side to safe at least a few shots (if there were a watcher from the distance, he would have had a big smile in his face). Finally we could approach to approximately 5m and managed shots like this one shown here. Not knowing whether that snake is a dangerous one, 5m seemed to be close enough for a proper escape ;-) Second pic shows a 100% crop.

Hello, I has a problem with my HC 4.5/300 mm. It only a few times works since two months. When I start the camera I take one or two photos and after it make a sound and appear the message "Reattach lens".
Did you have this problem or know how to solve it?
Thanks friends!

What body is the 300 on, and are you using it tripod mounted?
Cheers,

Jeff
