Luminance Filter, Phocus 2.6.6

I shoot products in 4-shot mode using CF-22MS backs. The backs have some inherent noise and using the Luminance Filter in Phocus 2.6.6 really smoothes things out. On a test subject I see no ill effect from setting the filter at the max which is +10. What I do see is just the smoothing out of any consistent tone like a gray background which I'm viewing at 200%.

Am I missing anything? Seems odd to be able to take a Noise Filter set it to "everything ya got" and not see any negative results. Impressive...

yes, that is possible. HB is somewhat conservative with these filters.

I have for long been asking for a more aggressive noise filter (eg. moire). A filter where the highest setting actually does have negative effects, so you can export a layered PSD and brush in what you like to have and leave out the negative parts. Now sometimes the moire filter actually does not do enough at parts (this is really rarely an issue with MS).
