fw 800 powered hubs

Anyone using a powered fw 800 hub in there set up? Any pros, cons or recommendations?
Reason I ask, I have a macbook pro which only has 1 fw 800 port. If I plug my 2tb hard drive in there, and from the 2tb , I plug in my H4D50ms, it doesn't work very well.
So, I'm thinking if I have a powered fw800 hub, it might improve things, if positioned straight out of the MBP, then camera, 2tb into powered hub.
Appreciate any advice.

I have been using a NitroAV 7 or 8 port hub for the past 2 years and am very pleased. It especially comes in handy powering my Ixpress imagebank when I shoot tethered.
