Good afternoon,

Hopefully a quick and easy one... On looking at the two above options they come to the same price. So, I was wondering which one would people go for? My thought is to go for the M4 Pro with 24 gb RAM - having the advantage of a quicker processor and the added advantage of Thunderbolt 5.

Any views?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Paul

Good question. A reviewer gave a great breajkdon in a Youtube video here
24Gb power users on a budget. 32Gb Pros, creators and video editors. 48Gb ? hmm
I think you need also to think on getting a 4Tb or more internal ssd. I sent back my Mac mini M4 Pro with 1Tb as it simply isn't enough, even though I also have a 4Tb external... they got pretty hot with my data handling. I returned the mini at he exact time the new Studio ws announced. Hence I have the Studio with M4 and 4Tb internal ... and it stays cold whatever I do !

I bought the Mac mini and MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro processor.

The Macbook has the M4 Pro, 48GB internal memory and a 2 TB hard drive.

The Mac Mini has the M4 Pro, 24GB internal memory and a 1 TB internal drive and a couple of 4TB external SSD's.

Both Macs perform great with no lag either in Photoshop, LRC or Fusion 360. I was a bit afraid of the lower memory in the Mac mini, but no problems what so ever.

For permanent storage I have a NAS with a Raid system. I just ordered the Unifi NAS Pro with 10 Gbit  transfer speeds to my Mac mini. Untested so far since I haven't received it yet.

Thanks Guys,

I guess I am thinking is the extra 8gb of RAM 'better' than an increased processor power?

Cheers.

My Mac mini has the same configuration you thought about. And it's great for all the heavy programs like Adobe PS and LRC.

So my suggestion based on my own experience would be to choose the M4 Pro with 24 GB internal memory. More cores to handle everything.
