Really love the H6D-100c but at times would sure benefit from an auto ISO option.  Have I missed something or might this appear in a firmware update?

Thank you.

Agreed! Could be useful.

Also, I'm new to the H system — took delivery of an H6D-50c this week; is ISO adjustable in 1/3 stops, or only full stops?

fsprow

1/3 stops, selectable on the rear screen.

Best, Frank

I'm only seeing full stops on both the rear LCD and the top LCD -- am I missing something?

fsprow

Go to +/- Exposure and click it. Increment step size can be selected as 1, 1/2 or 1/3.

it is set to 1/3 stop, but ISO is only adjusting in full stops. Aperture and shutter are in 1/3 stops as expected.

running latest firmware.

You are indeed correct.  I meant aperture and shutter speed.  Sorry.

Re Auto ISO I think it unlikely we'll see it in the H6 line because many see it as a prosumer feature (though I disagree and use it on my Nikons always).

Might be worth emailing Hasselblad and get it added to the feature requests list.

Auto-ISO is IMHO really valuable for anyone using the H6D outside the studio.

I got feedback from someone in the know that this is already planned for a future FW. This was a private exchange so I won't cite my source but it seems very credible.

Cheers,

You're absolutely correct Nick, I wouldn't call it Prosumer, it is rather more suited for spontaneous (where typically the Hasselblad user is more calculative and planned) or high volatility situations (Street photography - journalism - late sunsrise & sunset - twilight - etc) where the scene is rapidly changing, too quickly at times to make the right adjustments, unless you are sitting there particularly for that shot alone, which most of the time on an H - system, it is exactly that!  Auto ISO would then fit the ticket.

That said, I can't see myself doing when shooting with my H-system, it is not the intended purpose behind its use, I have other specialised systems and formats to do just that.  But what the Hassy does, no other system nor format does better!

Increasing number of professionals use Auto-ISO with manual mode: user specifies shutter speed and aperture while camera selects appropriate ISO. I feel that is a more 'professional' mode than aperture or shutter priority mode.

I only ever used it on my Fuji cameras, but it would be nice to have on the H6 "just because" -- and you can always dial in exposure comp if you don't like what it's doing.

and if not that, I at least wish there were 1/3 stop increments for ISO on the H6.
