As above you need to fill out a bit more detail on your profile (which only admin can see), before you are approved.

I'm sorry but i can't find access to my profile. Even a click on my name gives me 'You are not allowed to access this section'.

When I go to Edit Profile it clearly states

Apologies for the confusion Rick. That message is produced by the board's software by default, I shall have to find it and edit it. The reality is that only admin can see profiles and they must be filled out. Apologies for the confusion.

This forum grew out of a very tight knit group of users and as part of the move to the web I agreed that we would keep joining criteria pretty strict and that includes either a full name or a link to some images. If you could add either of those to your profile (which only I can see) I will approve.

Hi Nick-T, thanks for the response and I totally understand. I put a link to a portfolio of images, its a bit out of date but hopefully its sufficient. Also I was referred to the site by Hasselblad technical service.

Suddenly, from a French broadband connection I cannot access the site. However, access is possible using my UK cellphone over a French cellphone service provider. The site seems to be suddenly blocking access from French broadband providers. It was working ok up to 3 days ago.

Nothing has changed at this end, I wonder if your ISP has blacklisted my host?

There was a glitch in the forum permissions which should now be fixed.

You should be able to see all the boards now however you will not be able to post until you fill out your profile correctly.

I am not sure if I am looking at the right form then.

When I go in profile all I see is username (which I cannot change) and name (with a description that says this is how your name will be displayed to other forum members).

Am I looking at the wrong form?

I am new to MF digital. Bought a X1D and 2 lenses back in January. Built an adapter to mount Kodak and Zeiss lenses ( Hassy 1600/1000) to X1D.
Wish I could access photos here, but have been denied access.

Nick, I appreciate your goal to keep a focused and civil forum (I help run a car forum...), but I have some issues.

First, while I have no issue giving you my actual name, the form appears to indicate that anyone would be able to see it. From what I can tell that would only be people that are logged in and while I appreciate the efforts you go to weed out bad actors, that's still not something I'm comfortable with (yes I tend towards paranoia for privacy concerns ;)).

The second issue is the professional information. I'm not a photographer and as such have nothing to offer those 3 questions. My interest here is indirect in that I'm (finally) buying an HB for my wife (also not a professional) and here to learn.

Is there a compromise that will allow me to get access? Happy to chat in more detail if you want to ping me at the email address associated to this account.

Thanks for the message, as per page one of this thread only mods can see your profile info as this has always been how members wanted it. To anyone else reading this the "Notes" Feld is a good way to communicate why you want to join if you can't fill in all the blanks, or indeed post here.

What's please going-on ?

I've lost my permanent login and the normal forum page layout.

I had to login again in on white page named simple machines forum, with a warning that the site is not secure !

Different look and I also see the simplemachines forum name but it has a valid SSL and is secure. Presumably the site owner is running some kind of update and the forum has a new skin. I imagine the title/logo hasn't been updated yet?
