I know this is a silly question to ask but i am gg to ask anyway...

I am looking to buy a second hand 80 mm HC lens and i saw a few posting. However there is no form of reliability when one transact.

Are there any ways of making a secure transaction?

Ask them to make a few exposures with the lens?

You could ask for their Ebay feedbacks, if they have any.
Paying with Paypal could give you some guarantees as well.
Ask the seller to send you a Paypal invoice and check what
kind of protection you could get.
Cheers,

I have bought from several people on this site. Normal care is alway necessary. Like getting as much information as possible. I do feel much more comfortable buying from someone on this forum than on other ones.

Asking for their Ebay name is also a good one, provided you don't get someone elses userid Wink
