Hi fellow 'bladders

We recently made the transition from the V to the H system and acquired a very good used H3D-31.

The camera works fine and is a delight to use - it is a big change from our old 503...!

We're also very impressed by the quality of the HC 80mm - it really is good.

The only problem we have is when shooting tethered via Firewire - the camera crashes after 2 shots, citing Firewire error / restart camera.

I'm using a MacBookPro 17" and am running the latest version of Phocus.

As I recently had the opportunity to test a CFV-50, which worked fine under these conditions, I wonder if you may have a suggestion.... ie is it necessary to upgrade the firmware..?

Thank you for your assistance.

Sinuhe,

A bit confused by your cross posts. You ask here today whether you should update your firmware.

At http://hasselbladinfo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6065 both myself and Marc told you yesterday to update the firmware.

Are we wasting our time with our replies? Why are you asking again? Update the firmware and then post the results, it's really very simple.

Also, your MacBookPro may not be providing enough power to the FW port, after updating the firmware, if it still fails, get a powered hub.

Hi Derek

Apologies for the cross post - it was not to waste your time - but to gain other opinions as suggested by Marc (see his post) - as this forum apparently has a higher frequency of H3D users...

Ok, I didn't mean to be rough or harsh, let us know if the update worked. Be well.

Problem solved - upgrade to R267 seems to work.
Thanks, S:)
